Hello, I've been dealing with back pain since I was a teenager. These past two months I've been experiencing sciatic pain in my lower back, left leg and foot. Now, in the past week it is extremely painful. I cannot lie down, sit or walk without large amounts of pain.

I would like to ask few questions about the pain - is it irradiating paing along the thigh towards the left foot? Is it worsening with coughing? Yes, it could be pain caused by disc herniation onto the spinal nerves in the spinal canal. I assume that there were no spinal trauma an this condition is caused by worsening of you long-term condition. First of all is the need to calm down the pain - NSA like ibalgin, dexoket etc. and f.e. guajacuran to relax muscles around the spine which are in tension, limit physical excercise. Urgent evaluation is recommended if there are symptoms of significant leg/arm weakness, loss of feeling in the genital/rectal region, no control of urine or stool (this can be symptoms of cauda equina which need urgent operation!).
Still I would recommend to see a GP / neurologist if OTC meds won't bring any relieve.
Best regards, Jan
